The shape of the Alef consists of a higher Yud, a lower Yud, and a Vav that connects the two. The higher Yud represents spirituality and the lower Yud represents physicality. The connecting Vav is symbolic of the will to connect to the Creator, and is the balance between the spiritual and the physical. The numerical value of Yud is 10 and the value of Vav is 6. The three aspects of the Alef, therefore, is 26, the numerical value of God's Four Letter Name.
