In Hebrew, the word Tzadik means a righteous person. A righteous person attains his or her stature by focus and practice, symbolized by the letter Tzadik. The word Tzadi in Hebrew means ‘my side,’ as in God always being by one’s side. A Tzadik becomes righteous by continually calling God to his side. The letter Tzadik also relates to the sense of taste which corresponds to the month of Shvat. In this month the Jewish people celebrate Tu B’Shvat by tasting the many different fruits.
