"I aspire to design pieces through which one can grasp the Jewish and mystical meanings created within the form"
-Josh Burde
Josh Burde's collaborative work joins the skill of ancient traditional silversmithing with the tradition and knowledge of Kabbalah and Torah study. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Josh attended the King David school and commenced his study of Judaism. Josh spent much time in yeshivot in Israel including intense Torah and Chassidic study in K'far Chabad and Safed. With his introduction to Chassidut, Josh developed a strong interest in the Kabbalistic secrets and the intricacies surrounding the Hebrew letters. He found that not only did the letters hold specific significances, but that they contained the hidden dimensions of all Creation.
Josh spent three years in jewelry design training with well known silversmiths and goldsmiths in Johannesburg. Since 1990, Josh has been creating and mastering his skill by creating a wide variety of jewelry designs and Judaica. Paralleling the essential detail of every aspect of the Hebrew letters, Josh Burde's designs are individually crafted to maintain the connection with that Divine essence and quality..
